Just picked up 'Taito Legends: Powered Up' and, to my surprise, there is an update for a game that should have its own landfill next to the likes of 'E.T.': 'The Legend of Kage'.

This is some kind of neo-abortion the likes of which only the truly insane could conspire to induce. I don't think I really have to explain it here; but, imagine the original NES horror-fest with plastic-y XBox Live "improvements."

As basically the only person who liked The Legend of Kage, I am kind of disappointed that they didn't do more with it.

The only remake of Legend of Kage I ever liked was Demon Sword.

You know, I can't really summon up that much bile for Kage. I'm not saying it's not poorly designed, but the idea of flying through the trees like that is pretty cool. And the music is catchy.

The ending music is great. I should actually look for an MP3 or NSF or something.

You could run really fast and jump really high in Legend of Kage. When I was 7 that was good enough for me. It isn't so great now, but whatever.

Luckily, they balanced it by putting a fairly excellent remake of Cameltry on the same UMD. Awesome.

The Cameltry Arrange is awesome. Hell, the original game is still one of my all-time favorites. Taito Memories makes me sad that they pulled out of North America and we now only get a fraction of their output, or lousy American-developed compilations instead of the uncut Japanese product.

I think a DS remake/complete overhaul could be pretty fun. I understand that the original sucks pretty hard, but there is potential there.

Yeah, that was... wildly out of left field.

I convinced reibeatall to download the cell phone remake of Legend of Kage. He said that it was actually better than the NES version.

That still isn't saying too much.

So... is he saying that Legend of Kage gets him aroused?

'Cause that's what I'm getting, here.

I think he's saying that he needed medication to keep his interest up.

If they would only port the cellphone version to XBLA, or even to the NES. Just so I don't have to use my cell as the controller.

Also: who the shit thinks those links actually work? If I've got problems gettin' it up, I'm not following links spammed onto a video game forum.

I recently tried Legend of Kage 2 for the Nintendo DS. It shares some things in common with the original, but in other ways it's a much different game. The level structures are better defined, so there's no more Hanna-Barbera action where you're racing past the same backgrounds over and over again, and there are bosses at the end of every stage. The game is a lot prettier too, but those polished graphics don't hide the simplicity of the gameplay.

That was goddamn hilarious.

Also, I've heard really good things about Legend of Kage 2. HG101 just posted an article on the series (http://hg101.classicgaming.gamespy.com/legendofkage/legendofkage.htm), and they (he) gush about LoK2. I wonder if it'll get released over here... otherwise, I may import it.

Not if you remember Rule 34!

(Seriously, though, this could have been at the top of the page when said spammer first signed up)

I'm surprised that the HG101 article didn't include Ninja Spirits - its gameplay is remarkably similar to Kage, although, you know, good.

Now I know what the first thread on Talking Time 2.0 was. I feel much wiser.

I am not sure if anyone's been waiting more then six years to hear my opinion on the matter, but Legend of Kage 2 was, in fact, totally fun. I recommend searching the bargain bins for it. Or searching the bargain bins for Shinobi 3DS, since its pretty similar, easier to find, and just as fun.

The OP really enjoyed using the word "abortion".
