Who of you Northern California folks would be interested in a gaming meetup dedicated to a particular game? Something like Arkham Horror or Twilight Imperium? My thinking is to have a signup list for a primary game, with a similarly themed title as a secondary game in the event more people were interested in attending than the primary game could support.

For example, if the primary game was Twilight Imperium (http://www.boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/12493/twilight-imperium-third-edition) (3-8 players), the secondary game could be Galactic Emperor (http://www.boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/27463/galactic-emperor) (3-6 players); if the primary game was Arkham Horror (http://www.boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/15987/arkham-horror) (1-8 players), the secondary game could be Mansions of Madness (http://www.boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/83330/mansions-of-madness) (2-5 players); or if there was a Civilization theme, it could include Through the Ages: A Story of Civilization (http://www.boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/25613/through-the-ages-a-story-of-civilization) (2-4 players), the upcoming FFG edition of Civilization: The Board Game (http://www.boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/77130/sid-meiers-civilization-the-board-game) (1-4 players) and Tempus (http://www.boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/17161/tempus) (3-5 players). And so on.

Some of the games I've mentioned aren't out yet I'd love to host something like this, but with no vacation time remaining I don't foresee being able to organize a meetup before the year is out, so I'm including some upcoming stuff for the sake of discussion.

Is this a crazy idea? Or is there something to it? Let me know.

I need more gaming in my life. I also need a place with people who can teach me how to play half the games I already have. =P

I would love the shit out of this. I'd also drag Abby kicking and screaming Abby loves the BSG game and has been hankerin' to try Arkham Horror, too, so I know she'd be down as well.

Seems you're strapped for vacation time, though, so just let me know when!

Awesome. As soon as I can set up a date, I will. Probably early next year, but hey, just wanted to gauge the level of interest.

Edit: Oops, sorry.

Moved to Talking About Meatspace Games. We have a forum for board games! You should use it!

Hardcore Awesome Forever would also have been acceptable.

Maybe? I'm kinda booked for, like, all of October though.

This is a ways off.

The time is now soon!

I want to kick this idea into gear next month, assuming enough people are interested! Tentative planning puts it on Saturday, March 26, in Albany.

I'm going to post three themes below. If you're interested in attending, vote for your preference! Once a favorite is clear, I'll make a sign-up sheet for the first game on the list. Once that's full I'll move on to the next.

Info on all games is available on BoardGameGeek. Input and ideas welcome!
