All the talk about Eclipse Phase has me wanting to run the game. I've been digging around the internet for all the resources I can on the game, and I've found a few good ones.

The official EP resources section (http://www.eclipsephase.com/resources) is packed with info, official and fan created, to help run the game. Also, links to the real science behind EP.

The Dark Cast wiki (http://www.firewall-darkcast.com/) is a fan wiki contains both system references and a good amount of fan created material.

I've picked up the core rulebook, the GM screen, and the three novels that are available. I'm hoping to convince my players to try out the game. If not, well, I can always run a play-by-post here.

For funsies, rules on creating Borganism PCs. (http://www.eclipsephase.com/category/tags/borganism)

As a graphic designer, it tickles me to no end that you can download the InDesign document for the character sheet right from the website.

If you do PBP, I'm so in, to the point that I will neglect players in the online TT 4e game AND the EP game I'm ostensibly running for Comb Stranger and other IRL people!

You're just mad we wanted to play an intelligent existential horror game as a bunch of redneck idiots.

I suggest an all Surya (http://eclipsephase.com/sun-whales) campaign.

We can play it by pictochatting amorphous dark blobs.

I'm very tempted to say I'd be totally on board with this notion. I have a TERRIBLE track record with forum RPGs though. If that mutates into some sort of IRC/Maptool kinda setup though, count me in.

Terrible how so?

Checking back on the threads in timely fashion mainly, and making the various subtle shifts in approach you're required to when, unlike playing in person, it's the more actiony bits and parts where everyone's spread out all over that go smoothly, and conversations that take forever to get through.

I'm totally down for a PBP game, since I rarely get a chance to really play anything.

Eh, count me in anyway. Someone just now, by weird coincidence, yanked me into playing 2 other PBP RPGs. So apparently that's a thing I'm willing to do now!

Roll your "Drift lazily around the sun" skill.

If the movie Sunshine is to be believed, it'd be difficult to do anything lazily in the sun's corona. Even drifting could be action-packed!

For a brief moment, pence's surya overthinks things and accidentally flies into the sun.

Its damn near impossible to get any kind of RP going with the people I hang out with so I've been looking to catch a wave of TT RP during the planning phase. Not to mention science AND horror? Two of my favorite things.

Hm... it's difficult to justify an embarrassing mistake like that and still seem cool. We'll just say it was a near-religious experience for me.

I still have to write an ending to my last PBP Cthulhu game, I'm in the middle of buying a house and moving, and I need to learn the game. It's gonna be a while.

Take your time. Any more distractions and I fear we will never get pence back as a GM.

Here is a thing of potential use. (https://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?key=tALrrnmB-mXRZq1PG7yYCQA#gid=3)

Someone else's formatting, could stand to be more efficient. Auto-adds morph bonuses and calculates the derived stats though, and there's something to be said for the 5 page approach.

OK! I have now read the core rules cover to cover (except for the plot spoilers section). This is totally something I can see myself playing multiple campaigns of.

This is also however, hands down, the most fetishtastic RPG I've ever read. Is it tongue-in-cheek? Are we making fun of stuff like what the main character of GitS considers work appropriate attire, and William Gibson's obsession with tough cyborg grrrls? Or did Rob Boyle really feel it was of vital importance that people be able to buy spray-on armor that only works if you're naked* to give to your flesh-and-blood-anime-girl-remote-operated-real-doll, who takes drugs to get a bonus to her seduction checks?

And oh hey... here's a well-polished sample adventure... this sure uses the term inseminate a lot.

*well, "works." There's like 2 weapons don't just completely ignore it.

All the material is there to create a very uncomfortable game session if you're playing with That Guy who takes it just a bit too far for everyone else at the table. I don't think I've run into That Guy outside of a meatspace game store, though.

Plus, the GM could jettison his pleasure pod out an airlock and have Firewall resleeve him into a novacrab.

Just wait until the day you play with me then! I can reign it in if I'm not playing with my real life friends who are all That Guy though; Googles can attest that I've never done anything remotely That Guy-ish in our 4E game. I'm so shy with random internet strangers I clam up and can barely roleplay at all.

Still, the fetishes inherent in the system will be hard to resist! That's why to stop myself I'll try to stay in, say, an octopus morph or something similar. No way I can do anything naughty in a body like that. No way.

The name of the adventure we'll be playing is "Two Pleasure Pods, One Octomorph"

pence

Yeah, my initial example of 'resleeve into a novacrab' was an octomorph, until I realized that was equally dirty. We are talking about a universe where Lady Gaga is canonically alive, living in an exoplanet colony full of Scum which is basically Pleasure Island from Pinocchio.

So if you want to play Steven Spielberg's A.I., except the Blue Fairy is Lady Gaga, then you're set.

I like to imagine it's just set in a future that recognizes that porn is a multi-billion-dollar industry, and what rich old white guys in a post-scarcity economy would spend their time on.

But man, Suryas are hot.

That's actually REALLY close to how the party started out in the game someone yanked me into over here. Just replace one of the pods with a fury. I mean yeah, it's all a perfectly innocent "You've been working together for a while, some idiot got everyone super killed, and not one of you has remembered to back up since first meeting" sorta thing, but you really can't have two hot girls and an octopus all waking up naked in a room full of monitoring equipment with no recollection how they got there and not call attention to how bad it looks.

Granted, one of the players starting off with a pleasure pod is still pretty inherently terrible. Basically it's a drunken bet situation.

I saw that the other day. I think it actually replaces the half-orc inquisitor from Pathfinder as my favorite RPG illustration ever.

Also- Dear gods is my saturday game of this going down a dark road. Every character just seems to have one little flaw which would be just fine on its own, but combined just so, everyone turns into a totally depraved weirdo.

Which is, of course, hilarious.
