Hayvanlar Alemi - 666 (http://freemusicarchive.org/music/Hayvanlar_Alemi/)

Someone recreated the entirety of OK Computer (http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=YxLnu4PhQNQ) and Kid A (http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=lFUIeDjo2dA) in 8-bit style. I think they're pretty good, if you're into that sort of thing. There are download links in the descriptions of those videos.

Someone, somewhere in the history of Talking Time mentioned United State of Electronica's self-titled album, because that's how I discovered them.

So now I'm back to point out that their newer album Love World (http://store.usemusic.com/) has also been made available for free! Huzzah!

This is old news, but Forbes.com of all places had a Top Ten Free Albums of 2011 back in December, and the ones I've listened to so far are in fact good.

He's a really cool guy who did a rap about robots in space before my band did our marijuana melody Robot Lungs. We had a few good moments of supreme robot love and I would like to share that with all of you.

Neither of those songs are on the album so you'll just have to imagine it.

Edit: Actually, that was the old album! The new one can be accessed with the password qsus-vue9.

EXTRA KILLER AWESOME GOOD NEWS This new album DOES in fact feature raps about robots in space! HOLY SHIT What are you waiting for!

Hi there! Are you in dire need of Christmas jams, and also in dire need of cash? I can't help you with that last one, but I can get you some Christmas albums that won't cost you a dime!

(Note that while all of these are on Jamendo, I'm getting these from the Internet Archive. This is because I fear for my browser's life should I directly access Jamendo's Flash-heavy site. So I won't have read the album info and various other bibliographical data that may exist for some works, so if you're wondering "Wow, why is this dumb bint completely off about this one?", that's why.)

First off, if you are looking for a little R&B infused Christmas cheer, I can think of worse options than Merry Christmas to You (http://www.jamendo.com/en/album/078174) (Internet Archive link (https://archive.org/details/jamendo-078174)) by various artists. There is an entirely skippable spoken word introduction and everything! (Note: this may be more of a rap thing. I don't know my music genres from nothing.) I am halfway through it and so far aside from the intro most of the songs are pretty good to great; even the song called "Jesus is Coming to Town" only dips into "okay".

If you are looking for an instrumental album (actually most of these albums are instrumentals), then how about Christmas Presence (http://www.jamendo.com/en/album/099680) by Neil Dawson? (Internet Archive link (https://archive.org/details/jamendo-099680)) He has a song where he mashes up "God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen" with the Exorcist theme, so if that sounds like something you'd be interested in, check it out!

If what you really want is a Christmas album that will remind you of the delightful sounds your battery-powered musical Christmas toys made as they slowly started to break down, then boy do I have something for you! It's called The Best Of Now That's What I Call The Best Ultimate Christmas Album In The World Gold Top Of The Greatest Hits Pops Volume 46 Ever (http://www.jamendo.com/en/album/103136) by Baldmonkey's Split Spleen Experience (Intenet Archive link (https://archive.org/details/jamendo-103136)) (i have to assume the title is taking the piss), and it will bring some of that broken-down-Christmas-toy joy in your life! Contains most every Christmas song you could ask for plus the theme from Flash Gordon for some reason.

Want a classical-themed Christmas? Ralph Rousseau's Christmas Carols (http://www.jamendo.com/en/album/053429) (Internet Archive link (https://archive.org/details/jamendo-053429)) is bunch of Christmas carols arranged for violin (solo, I assume). Some of the carols are rather obscure and German, but it's all quite good.

Dance2003's Christmas Songs (http://www.jamendo.com/en/album/006384) (Internet Archive link (https://archive.org/details/jamendo-006384)) sounds like it was made with a broken synthesizer by a man hard of hearing. I don't think this Dance2003 character likes Christmas very much you guys! But it is perfect for a situation like, "I am in charge of the music for the office Christmas party, and would like everyone there to know that I hate them."

Plastic3's Children Christmas Holiday Background Music (http://www.jamendo.com/en/album/103279) (Internet Archive link (https://archive.org/details/jamendo-103279)) is much more technically sound, but still incredibly upsetting. Why are the children of the title represented by a few canned clips at the beginning of a song? Why is everything so forced and cheerful? What is with those titles?! Corporate Christmas Party?!? Perfect for the situation: "I too am in charge of the music for the office Christmas party and would like to express my disdain, but not in a way that would get me fired."

Jita's The Sound of Christmas (http://www.jamendo.com/en/album/056395) (Internet Archive link (https://archive.org/details/jamendo-056395)) is actually only one song! (Silent Night.) But that's okay because it's pretty good! In fact, I'm using it as a palate cleanser, because the next album...

mmb digidesigns's Christmas Bells (http://www.jamendo.com/en/album/007340) (Archive link (https://archive.org/details/jamendo-007340))... man, I don't know what's up with it. It sounds like it was made by aliens after they heard about Christmas music, but before they actually heard Christmas music. It's weird! Check it out, you might just like it.

I got two selections from the Free Music Archive to share with you guys: one's a Celtic album first released in the early days of the internet, the other's a Synth-Pop EP that was released just this year, and they're both well worth your time.

First, there's Sláinte (http://freemusicarchive.org/music/Slinte/Slinte/) (by Sláinte), first released on mp3.com waaaay back in the Good Ol' Days of 1997. It's a solid collection of Celtic/Irish Folk music, mostly instrumentals with a couple vocal tracks too, like the stunning Wild Mountain Thyme. Give it a listen!

Next up, it's cultureculture's 2014 EP (http://freemusicarchive.org/music/cultureculture/cultureculture_EP_2014/)! cultureculture is an upcoming band from Atlanta, GA, and this is their first EP. It's a dreamy mix of synth-pop and dark* lyrical content, and I cannot recommend it enough. Standout track: Baby Blue. Dig that chord progression on the chorus.

*(Near as I can figure, anyway.)

Catch you freeloading music lovers later!

OH MY GOD I remember that album! I learned some of the instrumental pieces from it when I was first getting started playing Irish trad! Hell, I even put a few tracks up on mp3.com with a friend of mine back in the day, although they don't seem to exist any more. I wouldn't describe Slainte as anything special from a musical standpoint, but they're a decent group that happened to be at the forefront of music sharing online.

Proving I'm woefully out of touch with the music scene these days, I wasn't aware the new Wilco album came out a few weeks ago, and that it is free until next week (http://wilcoworld.net/#!/new-album-star-wars-available-now/) until just last night. Summerteeth is probably one of my top five favorite albums, and while this new album will probably sound absolutely nothing like that, I'm still glad I didn't miss the free stuff train.
