Do we really not already have a thread about this? Huh.

Well whatever. I want to talk to you all about comics about sports. I'm sure lots of you will just be snide and dismissive about the whole idea, but please hear me out on this one. Sports are one of those things that perfectly captures the complete human condition in a microcosm: Friendship, rivalry, hope and heartbreak, it's all there.

I figured I'd start us off with one of the most impressive examples of the genre I could find.

I think it's a real winner.

Good to know Samus still finds work even after Other M.

The Dodge Ball Teens guy is a real human who lives near me and did a signing at the comic shop a few blocks from our apartment. He's a pretty nice person trying his hand at doing something creative that he loves. When he was signing, he was taking requests, drawing free pictures of Batman and Ninja Turtles for the kids in the shop, who were thrilled.

I can't tell how serious you are with that example, but I have been saying this for years. I can not understand how there are no comics about sports in this country. The closest we get is like NFL Superpro or that cartoon with Wayne Gretsky and Bo Jackson. Of course, the skillsets needed to be familiar with sports and good at cartooning tend to run contrary to one another.

Basically, I would love for this to be a real topic.

Let's start with the A game: Mitsuru Adachi (http://excitemike.net/eye_robot/comix/adachi/Short_Program_v01_c04[Kakashi-Guy].rar).

The earnestness apparent from his website is pretty infectious. No way am I going to hate on a comic which features a sentient dodgeball named Rodney, who is "the only person to be a actual dodgeball unlike other mascots with heavy costumes and silence."
