Since 'tis the season, I figured we could discuss good alcohols with which to spike the most popular holiday bevarage. I'm a fan of spiced rum, brandy or amaretto, but I've found hands down the best thing in Nog is Bulleit Rye.

I prefer rum, but wonder if it's not too sweet

isn't that the point of eggnog?

that's like saying, "I like this flourless chocolate cake recipe, but I worry that it's a bit rich."

Apparently there's already an eggnog thread so is there any reason for this one's continued existence?

I used Alton Brown's "aged eggnog" recipe this year, which uses bourbon, cognac, and rum. At a 1:2 ratio of liquor:dairy. It's very boozy.

I don't like eggnog with alcohol.

I skip the eggnog and just drink the booze

I've always added rum to nog. I've never tried whiskey with it, but maybe it's worth a shot.
