From team xbox:

Beginning June 12, two of the biggest anime distributors in the US will join current Xbox LIVE partner ADV Films with popular shows, movies, gamer pics and themes, making LIVE Marketplace an unparalleled online source for quality anime content:

* FUNimation. The epic adventure series “Samurai 7,” adapted from Akira Kurosawa’s legendry film “Seven Samurai,” is coming to Xbox LIVE Marketplace. Also coming from FUNimation: “Trinity Blood,” “Gunslinger Girl,” and “Basilisk.”
* Geneon Entertainment. Die-hard fans and those new to the genre alike will enjoy the U.S. HD debut of the anime classic “Akira,” available exclusively from Geneon on Xbox LIVE Marketplace. Also available from Geneon Entertainment at launch: “Gun Sword,” “Last Exile,” “Gankutsuou: The Count of Monte Cristo” and “Lupin the 3rd.”

Finally, I can purchase anime at a decent price. 25 bucks for 4 episodes? I think not. If they go on regular XBLM pricing, it'll be about 2 bucks an episode. I can finally finish watching Trinity Blood and Last Exile.

Well, now we see who MS is really targeting that 120GB hard drive at.

My 20GB drive is full. It's got lots and lots of South Park on it. I've been needing to upgrade, I'm just waiting to find somewhere I can find the 120GB cheaper than $150.

As cool as Akira in HD no doubt is, I will still NEVER buy a 360. I'll just grab it on Blu-Ray when it hits.

Animetard I may be, but I doubt I'll ever use this service, even when I do get a 360. Media tied to a single player rubs me the wrong way.

My 360's hooked up to the only TV I watch... TV on. So it's not a big deal for me.

See, there's this largish collection of DVDs in my room that would scream for blood if I tried to do that. If I had a 360, anyway. But yeah, I'm leery of the tied to a single player thing as well. I like my spinning discs of death, k'thx.

I can't tell you how much I LOVE that they did this after the regional lockout on XBL content.

I concur with this. Also, anime is cheap enough on ebay.

Unless I somehow turn into some sort of videophile and need those hdmi inputs, I don't see myself needed that Elite model. I mean, snap, I only have about 40gb with of data on my freaking pc.

Dare I suggest that unscrupulous and sinister use of bittorrent neatly removes all money-for-weird-cartoons issues here?

Also, Netflix. Almost as cheap, but much more legal. Plus, you don't have keychains and other pack-in shit piling up all over your house.

It sure does! Also, it lets you watch your weirdness months earlier, if not years.

The fansub of Lucky Star ep. 9 might be out as soon as tomorrow, people. Do you feel the excitement?

But it's not in HD in your living room (or where ever you keep your 360).

It's OK, I only have one room.

It's not HD in my bathroom, either. Dammit, I WANT HD in my bathroom!!!!!!!!

Well, for anyone who *does* actually want to try out this service, I can point out that Last Exile, Gankutsuou, and Lupin III are all pretty much completely rad. Nice starting selection, anyway.

I'm not sure how good Lupin will look in HD, though. It's pretty old.

But yeah, Gankutsuou is awesome, and was practically made for HD.

I can't really say much about Last Exile as a story. I haven't really watched it outside of a couple episodes on G4. I do know that it's really pretty, so it should look really nice in HD too.

Yes.

I'm assuming they're only putting out the dubbed versions of these shows though. If they really want to grab onto the anime nerds they should offer up the subbed episodes as well.

What's with today? When did we get all these necromancers?

Now I'm curious if any of those are even there given ADV's demise since this thread was started.
