Default Get your own damn kotowari: SMT:Imagine, now with 100% fewer moon runes

Via Siliconera:

Shin Megami Tensei: Imagine was released only in Japanese last year. According to this forum thread at Aeria it appears they will be publishing the game in other languages.
The Aeria thread is here.

I'm...not excited about this. Maybe some of you will be!

We had some fun ripping on that ad in the "Not Worth Its Own Thread" Thread.

The game itself strikes me as the sort of thing that would be brilliant if it were done well, and it's probably not done well. Given the picture there though, it could be another hilarious Persona-esque disaster.

Shin Megami Tensei: Imagine

an MMORPG

In all seriousness, it might be interesting. I won't be holding out hope though.

Atlus USA had a job listing on their site a few months ago (Before FES was announced for America) for somebody to work on an MMO.

Whoops, I missed that. If something isn't worth its own thread, is it really worth reading at all?

This isn't Atlus though and if "Heresy Mansion House" (and "Persona 2: Crime," "Devils" and "Abatarl Tuner") is any indication, this game is being worked on by people who have basically never heard of the series before =X

It's a fun thread, though I don't blame you for missing it.

I posted this "news" somewhere back when it first came up. This is a response I got:

Quote:
I'm willing to put money on that ATLUS Japan is responsible for that considering it is in quotes, and based on the fact that the rest of the English seems sound...and they are based in the US

"Founded in 2006, Aeria Games & Entertainment, Inc. is based in Silicon Valley, California."

So uhm..I guess that's how English works...in California...

If anything I would say that ATLUS USA would probably never pick up the title, and even then, would make edits wantonly that would make fans cringe (looking at their track record of past SMT titles). Aeria seems to be open for criticism while ATLUS USA seems to be arrogant to it ("We do no wrong!"), so I would actually want this company to pick it up.
So you see, the mock up image is by Atlus Japan. Which is why they spelled the names of their games wrong, despite most of those names being written in perfect (well, perfect enough) English on the Japanese packaging. It all makes sense!

And it's STILL WRONG! FIX PLOX.

Actually everything I could actually care about is listed on that page, so at least I *know* what it all is. Plus I got the impression while playing it that the story probably made amazingly low amounts of real "sense" in Japanese, too. That's why I liked it.

I tried to get them to expound upon that complaint further so they could see how ridiculous it looked. Some there were irked over some of the naming conventions used in Nocturne. :/

Look, you don't get to talk, you already butchered Persona 4 by changing "Kuma" to "Teddie" which, frankly, a complete betrayal of the fans of the series. All of y'all at Atlus USA should be ashamed, because you're the only US company that makes any changes to games during localization.

I prefer the names in Persona 1 because "Chris," "Alanis" and "Mary" are easier for me to remember and spell than "Yukari," "Akihiko" and "Mitsuru".

(ITT Brickroad surprises everyone by pointing out he's played Persona 1.)

Still not sure what to think of this. If Atlus was handling it themselves I'd have a lot more confidence.

Though I have an undying love for SMT games I'm really not sure how to take this. Atlus makes damn fine single player games but that really doesn't automatically transfer into the MMO relm. Take away Atlus USA (I love you guys, even if I'm ashamed to bring out Persona) and I think I'll hold off on getting excited. Also, this game (probably because of SMT: NINE) makes me think of that awful era where every Japanese studio thought to themselves "Hey, maybe we should look into these MMO things!" and the results were always awful. Tales of Eternia Online, anyone?

At least the game is free - it's one of those ones where you have to pay real moneys for items and shit. If you're borderline interested like I am, there's no good excuse not to try it.

Except that my computer is unstable half the time and probably wouldn't run the damn thing.

I'm pretty much MMO-proof, so I can't really get excited about this. Plus a video I saw looked... really boring, even for an MMO.

Free helps. It also seems to have the cat from Shrek, so that's something.
