It's a happy 25th anniversary to the fat yet loveable Italian plumber and his brother today!

Let us celebrate by looking at a brief history that doesn't include any of the Mario Parties. (http://www.wired.com/geekdad/wp-content/uploads/2010/09/timeline.jpg?ref=nf)

I'm pretty sure Mario 2 was '88 and Mario 64 was '96, though...

Super Mario Bros. is where it all began for me.

They forgot Yoshi's Island.

I think they've got the European release dates for a bunch of games. Mario 3 was a 1990 release in North America.

HEY NINTENDO: if you want to bring that weird 25th anniversary re-release of Super Mario All-Stars to the US, I will absolutely buy it. for some reason!

What an awesome game. This is one NES game that is still good today.

Super Mario Bros. is one of those games that is built into my muscle memory; 5-3 and 7-2 are practically my only sticking points.

I would totally over-pay for old games and shiny memorabilia, too!

(are they putting video content or something on the disc, too?)

8-3. Stupid effing 8-3 and those stupid effing Hammer Bros.

8-4 is my sticking point. Just that bit at the end with the Hammer Bro before Bowser. 8-3 I don't find hard at all, because it's generous enough to give you power ups.

8-4 though... you lose those power ups and you're in for pain at the end. Even if you get by the Hammer Bro you still need to get around fire-breathing hammer-throwing Bowser when you're small.

Anyway, I MAY buy this if they release it stateside. Though I'd rather they just put All-Stars on the VC, with a premium if need-be.

I also want Yoshi's Island.

And a pony.

Jumpmang.

Is '83 DK2? *Crying* I thought you were a good guy, Mario!!

Donkey Kong Jr. was '82; Mario Bros. was '83.

Wh... what? Where are the powerups? I feel stupid asking, but I always blow by those two parts where there are the two Hammer Bros. jumping around the bricks - is this where they are? I admit, I've never spent enough time there to check for anything because I'm always afraid I'll get hit by one of them.

Or maybe I'm dumb and just forget where there's a mushroom or whatever. It has been a while since I played... I just remember 8-3 always kicked my ass.

The power ups are in the areas with breakable blocks, yeah. Both are located in the top row each time, the first is second block from the right I think and the second is located three blocks from the left.

I won't continue to 8-4 unless I have a power up. That hammer brother before bowser has killed me more times than anything else in the game. He comes down from his jump WAY faster than bowser. He is a lot less imposing with fireballs.

Now is a good time to ask: does anyone in this thread not know about the beanstalk in 4-2?

You mean the one to the warp? Or something else?
