A whole heapin' helpin' of things came out this week. Let us get cracking!

Both XBLA and PSN got Space Invaders: Infinity Gene. I hadn't heard of this at all before last night, but then I started doing research on it and I'll be confounded if it doesn't look pretty darn nifty. Like how Extreme was Space Invaders dedicated to subverting your expectations for how the Invaders acted, Infinite Gene changes the view point every level. Apparently it's an iPhone game that graduated to consoles. I intend to give the demo a try, but I'm awful intrigued.

XBLAs other game is Sonic Adventure which is slightly gussied up port of the Dreamcast game. Since Sonic Adventure has aged like a carton of milk, I think you wouldn't miss much by skipping this, but then, I'm sure that there are enough people who say that this was the last good Sonic game.

And people are allowed to be wrong...

PSN got the lions share of releases this week, starting with Tumble. The description isn't very helpful, but makes it sound Jenga-ish. If this sounds like a thrilling adventure to you and yours, bear in mind that it requires Playstation Move.

PSN also got My Aquarium. I... kind of ran out of steam making fun of these things in the Nintendo WFC threads, but still they come. Now you can watch fictional-fish in the majesty of High Definition Television! It replicates an aquarium so realistically you'll say "Gee, maybe I should have just bought an actual aquarium?"

Third is Worms 2: Armageddon, which came out on XBLA quite a while ago, and is well worth the wait. The Downloadable Worms games hew closer to the handheld Open Warfare games then the PC originals, but that is by no means a complaint. Everybody needs to have worms! And now everyone CAN!

There was also the PS1 classic Soviet Strike. Which I always assumed was related to the Desert and Jungle Strike games, but I don't see the EA logo on this anywhere. So it looks like I've got me some brain problems!

Anyway, you fly a helicopter around and solve a tense political situation by exploding the holy hell out of everything you see.

PSP starts with Cabela's North American Adventures, which brings all the excitement of smearing deer musk on the ground and wandering around vast, brown canyons to the palm of your hands!

NOW you're playing with power!

There's also Gladiator Begins , which is not a prequel to my favorite Ridley Scott film, but is about taking a Gladiator from obscurity to fame and fortune. And probably losing it all because your girlfriends brother is a jerk and drunkard. Or because the emperor is jealous that his father thought you were awesome.

I am likely confusing my movies.

Phantasy Star Portable 2 also came out this week. I'm told that PSP2 is a huge improvement in every way over the original PSP, and that Portable went a long way towards correcting all the grevious misteps that Phantasy Star Universe took. But it still looks like PSU, and that means I'm still bitter towards it.

I'm going to give it a score of "BANG" anyway, but it is unwilling on my part.

Finally, we've got UFC Undisputed 2010. I haven't played any UFC games at all (outside of a demo for one on the PS1 roughly a decade ago) so I don't quite know how it holds up on the PSP. I differ to others better judgement on this matter.

I am assuming the game involves people pounding the holy hell out of each other.

The marketplace hadn't updated when I was writing the thread this morning, so all I had to go by was Gamefaqs' release table.

Rest assured, I was confused by its mere existence.
