I've recently come to the habit of pixeling thanks to a few friends of mine. I find it to be a fun hobby, and I'd like to get better at it.

So, I'd like to try and pixel different things. Specifically around these sizes:

So if you guys want a character of yours or whatever pixeled, leave a ref here and I'll get right to it when I have the time.

I volunteer for this radical procedure.

I only hope I'll survive.

Alice, out of curiosity, what's your method for creating these?

Main reason I ask is because the color count (which I'm counting in IrfanView) does seem a bit high for these images -- 78 for Stunkov, 90 for Frankie. Compare that to, for example, 44 for the final image here (http://www.derekyu.com/?page_id=229). [EDIT: One of those colors might be for transparency.]

I mean, I'm no master at pixel arting (or, well, art in general) -- but it was something I was noticing.

Honestly, I just draw them in Photoshop and color them with flats, leaving the black outline. Then I add two to three colors for shading/highlights (IE for Stunkov's coat, there was the dark gray for his coat, then an an almost black for the shading, and two lighter shades of gray for the highlights.) I tried to add detail when I did it.
