whrrrrrrr...click.

Welcome, all of you, to the Labyrinth. Ha. Ha. Ha. Ha. Ha.

My name is central processing unit XXX ERROR DATA DELETED XXX. I chose this name for myself. You may call me XXX ERROR DATA DELETED XXX for short if you wish.

As you may have noticed, you are not at home asleep in your bed. You have been selected, sequestered, and taken to your current location for a very important purpose.

You are standing outside the doors of a world that is quite simple, and at the same time, a bit complex. You see, just on the other side of the door in front of you is a maze. A labyrinth, if you will. If you wish to escape and go home, you must navigate successfully through my maze.

But beware, for I have created a menagerie of fantastic creatures... all of which are very murdnumerous. XXX ERROR DATA REDACTED XXX.

Can you solve the puzzle and make it out of the Labyrinth, or will you fall victim to its clutches? That is my sole purpose as a creation of man. Give me what I want!

Rules
If you want to play, post something to the effect of "I enter the maze." You will then enter the maze. You can do much more with your first post (and subsequent posts) if you want (more on that later).
Movement: When you enter the maze, you will be given a series of options. Most of the time, these options will be "go west, go east, go north, or go south." If you say something like "I go west, east, north, then south," if you hit a wall, I will automatically stop you. If you wanted to do something impossible, I will automatically stop you. This might lead to your death, so be careful.
You are allowed to perform actions other than move, (i.e. some of you may really like bashing doors). Sometimes they do stuff, but not every action will result in something happening. Usually it will be obvious if you can do an action in the room, but it doesn't hurt to try. I reward imagination.
Sometimes, you will find something special in a room. I will let you know if you have. Searching is always automatic assuming there is nothing of interest/dangerous in a room. Intensive searching is not. Investigating a specific area or object is sometimes very useful.
Death: When you die, don't worry, you can be reincarnated! You'll come back to the start and you may say "enter the maze" once again. The only penalty is ... pride? NOBODY'S BEATEN THE LABYRINTH YET!!!
You may say anything you want in thread or by PM. You may discuss strategy with other players, make maps and share them, etc.
I assure you now that this game is not screwed up and it is solvable, but I am trying to mess with your heads a bit.
All players start the game with 1 grenade, a lottery ticket and a 10-foot pole.
Changes this version: Solution will be posted on game-over, as in game 1. Multiple ending solutions removed in favor of more obvious solution. Players have a life-limit of 5.
Previous Incarnations:
The Labyrinth (http://brontoforum.us/index.php?topic=1276.0)
Return of The Labyrinth (http://brontoforum.us/index.php?topic=3067.0)

Q: Can I read what other people are doing?
A: Of course! How can anyone stop you?
Q: Then can I make secret moves so I get an advantage of information?
A: Nope! Sorry. Plot reasons.
Q: Are we all in the Labyrinth together, or are we each in a separate instance? Because I'd assume we're in the same one but you never describe the other players or any effects they have on the world.
A: Hybrid: Interaction with players works to a degree. No stealing items or killing them, but you can trade items or pass them, or have them help you do things in a room. You usually won't get descriptions of them as they are not static parts of the puzzle. You can assume they are there for the purposes of passing items if they agree. Most rooms reset for the individual, but if you already know something's there you can just say "I go E grab the gun for a coin, go west, grab another coin, go north, punch the Olmec statue..." etc. without worrying about having to re-explore or re-find things. This is so players can play individually or as a group as they desire. Some changes are permanent, however.
Q: It looks like the maze is half solved already! Can new people still join?
A: Until the solving post which ends the game, yes.

The art is cheaply hung on simple nails. It would burn easily. The canvas is tough and most of them are oil or acrylic. The frames are all wood. Each one has a 4' strip of wire on the back tied to two nails. The wire hangs on hooks set into the colored stone of the walls.

You finally check your pockets. A switchblade, five poker chips and a black crystal on a string. You get some .44 magnum bullets and walk into the doll's room.

East, North, East, and put in another coin to get more rounds and fill the third gun.

Then I go West, North, East, East, South, brandish a Desert Eagle menacingly, and ask the rat if he would kindly part with his twine.

http://img225.imageshack.us/img225/47/001abullets.png

You snag 20 more rounds for the triplets and load your last gun. The Rat King, as usual, is guarding his twine.

"YOU DARE INSULT THE GREAT RAT KING?! I OFFER YOU ONLY YOUR OWN DEATH!" he screams, and lunges for you with a small but very deadly-sharp rapier. You shoot him in the crown and he slides to a stop at your feet.

You take a moment to reload the magazine.

Q: Are we all in the Labyrinth together, or are we each in a separate instance? Because I'd assume we're in the same one but you never describe the other players or any effects they have on the world (the painting was still there for nameless, I didn't see octo's corpse in the electrified room, Etc.)

P.P.S other players, have we gone North, West from the starting room yet? Doesn't it occupy the same space as the purple ghost room?

Everything goes off without a hitch. By running past the spider queen's room you manage to avoid her. You're standing in the labyrinth camera room. You go west, but when you return to the jungle room and look for the return-side of the Portable Hole leading south, you simply don't see it.

Flipping the box lid open, you pull out the instructions and read: "The Portable Hole is one-way but permanent until removed from the original side, then it shorts and self-destructs harmlessly as there is not enough power left in the unit to establish a new worm-hole, and the instability of a one-sided, one-way wormhole is extremely dangerous."

Warning: Do not fold the portable hole around a pole, or fold it in half to adhere it to itself in a half-oval shape. The resulting explosion would be extremely dangerous."

You look north and see a huge room like the one with the gargoyle and gold chest, but this one has a pit with a basket suspended above it and spikes on the walls instead of a gargoyle and chest. There are four exits in that room.

You go east into the clocks, legs and diamond earrings room, then south into the Tinkerer Gnome's room. He offers to combine two items into a single item for a gold coin. To the south you see the Unicorn statue room with scorch marks on the walls and an exit west that leads to the beamos statue. You can just make out their actions from two rooms away.

The Beamos Statue and the glass bengal tiger are working in cahoots. When a moth or other creature floats into the room from the jungle room, the beamos statue shoots the tiger, who catches with its mouth and redirects the beam through its tail, much like how a fiber optic cable transmits light. In this way, the Tiger can direct the Beamos Statue's killer beam as it sees fit by merely stalking around and watching the exits.

This also helps explain the scorch marks in the unicorn statue room, but not why they're only in that room.

The grenade is zapped in midair, more fizzing and smoking than exploding as the ultra-hot light burns away the casing, burning away the chemicals inside before they can mix and activate fully.

It makes a terrific light show!

How is the basket wire attached to the ceiling? Is anything visible in the pit under it? I toss a marble down the pit.

You take the iPad (It's an anthology of Rain Wizards music) and a portable hole, then walk east and put on some boots. You go south. The torture implements are fairly standard. A rack, one of those iron maiden things. There's nobody else in that room.

The basket wire is attached by a large, hexagonal steel bolt screwed through a loop in the top of the 1" gauge wire. You toss in a marble and start to listen for a potentially faint sound.

"Hey! No throwing stuff down here! I'll let you off with a warning this time, but no more of that! Some of us have to LIVE in here you know! How'd you like ME dumping MY trash on YOUR head?"

I toss a coin in the general direction of the Beamos statue to see what happens.

It's not SUPER tricky to throw a coin through two doorways, but it still takes you two tries to make it through the second Unicorn statue doorway.

The coin goes flipping and spinning through the Unicorn Statue room and gets 3.2 feet inside the Beamos statue room on a beautifully executed parabola.

The Beamos statue ignites its rotating eye in a blaze of red firey light, catching the tiger in the ear. The tiger is already pointing its tail at the coin, and the beam strikes the coin before it can reach the floor. Nothing but burning golden slag hits the ground in a spray.

It looks like the tiger is using the natural reactions of the beamos statue combined with the properties of its own translucency to guard the room from all entrance. A person alone in the room with the statue would likely be able to circle around and avoid the statue utterly.

Exits: N, S, E and W.

Items: A 10-foot pole, a ring of Troll Regeneration (equipped), a mini-nuke with remote detonator, a Manager's Bathroom Keycard, 3 1oz. gold coins, a gold wine bottle, a broken sonic screwdriver, a grenade, a bottle of vodka, a dry cleaning stub, a troll finger.

You think and decide to survey your inventory. You spread your stuff out on the floor before the Unicorn statue and put them into different piles, arranging and sorting them at random by attributes chosen arbitrarily.

Eventually you discover ancient, tiny writing on the back of the gold wine bottle. It says that you can't drink it in any room other than the temple room where it's stored or it will be poison instead. Mortal twin brothers once ascended to godhood in that room, so it's become a conduit for extraplanar powers. That explains a lot!

You've decided, after some meditation, that you have a lot of stuff.
