Anyone want to mainline some music that is:

Non-lyrical
Gloomy
Reflective

...into this thread?

My current ranking, as far as I can tell:

New Order - Elegia (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3LY3ftiLqmE) (17-minute version)

Worrytrain - Hospitalized (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fhG5JSzrIp8)

Trentemoller - Miss You (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5DUCKGyojpE)

Worrytrain - White Phosphorus Angels (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G-nE9XgtVug)

Arovane - Good bye Forever (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AgUCo0iu4t0)

Rafael Anton Irisarri - Watching as She Reels (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tnc52_azuhY)

Final Fantasy X OST - People of the North Pole (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e6YMf4x16eY)

Colleen - I'll Read You A Story (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_ctVdz5ooFk)

Flatline - Scattle (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=taU8ugPg618)

I would rank Worrytrain's Hospitalized higher if it wasn't so damn short and New Order's Elegia so epic in scope.

Not exactly motivational stuff!

Earth's The Bees Made Honey in a Lion's Skull (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iWrg3hgH4Jg) is all of that in a cloud of dust.

Are you familiar with George Winston (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B-mLkzFUzTA) or any of the other artists at Windham Hill?

I think my favorite song of last year would qualify. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RXdF9uhVrI0)

The Cure - Carnage Visors (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GN7acmhbuJQ) - In the early eighties, The Cure used to have a film before their shows instead of a support band and this was the soundtrack. It's half an hour long.
Dirty Three - Sirena (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cFSs8lZUwDY) - The whole "Ocean Songs" album should be included here
Broadcast - Dead The Long Year (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GpjYIBzqa-g), Dave's Dream (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZVsDEjPaUiI)
John Coltrane - Naima (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LLAq0XhXG8E)
Oneohtrix Point Never - Memory Vague (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OAQkRF7QntY)

I second Steph on Earth.

Also, Temple (http://templeofficial.bandcamp.com/) can do that.

And Long Distance Calling (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=klkyHlSaewo), particularly on this song. World's ending? Ok.

Oop! I have more:

Xasthur - Walker Of Dissonant Worlds (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kU0pOmzj70o) (dooooomgaze -- the non-psychotic kind)
Sigur Ros - Samskeyti (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x3OJTZVKZx8) (for anyone who's seen Mysterious Skin this was just perfect.)

I can't link while I'm in the office, but the entire monaca:factory album "Latimeria Will Dream" should be checked out. A few choice tracks are nice and melancholy, some others just being catchy and upbeat (not meant for this thread, but still neat).

EDIT: Anathema's "A Natural Disaster" (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RHQagJU16Rw&feature=youtube_gdata_player) always gets me pretty melancholy. I wish I had more to offer here, but most tracks I prefer that would even remotely belong here are either full of lyrics or are already here.
Except for Explosions in the Sky, but I kind of just assume everyone takes this as a given.

I'm at work, so I'm linking kind of blind, or deaf, as the case may be, but I'd add:

Miles Davis - He Loved Him Madly (www.youtube.com/watch?v=w4S75LQENH8)
Bob James - Angela (www.youtube.com/watch?v=BCfn3aY5vUw)
Terry Riley - Desert of Ice (www.youtube.com/watch?v=C7R6iEQUeMA)
The Beach Boys - Passing By (www.youtube.com/watch?v=GPDoKjTXZ5Q)
Vangelis - Abraham's Theme (www.youtube.com/watch?v=cIw512Afw9U)

A lot of stuff off of the albums Songs of Innocence or Songs of Experience by David Axelrod, albums based on the collection of poems by William Blake. I'll say The Fly (www.youtube.com/watch?v=aNvvICZcCes) or Holy Thursday (www.youtube.com/watch?v=dhxdnq_1OcM) to name a song or two.

And if I can cheat a little bit and include a song with recessed and unintelligible lyrics, Paul McCartney - Blue Sway (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tLF10L10hH8).

I almost forgot Santo and Johnny - Sleep Walk (www.youtube.com/watch?v=1st_9KudWB0).
