Right now I'm watching the opening ceremony of the Olympics and it's really pretty, but why is it night time? Shouldn't it be morning? Was it time delayed?

Active Media is probably a better place, but there's already an Olympics thread in the Pit. (http://www.gamespite.net/talkingtime/showthread.php?t=5360)

There is no sun in China. It is too unhappy (and smoggy).

they filmed it at 8:08 pm local time, and then tape delayed it for hte states.

Ah, it's always nice to see someone's illusions about the timeliness of NBC's Olympics coverage be shattered....

I hate the sun. It can go away forever as far as I'm concerned.

It's been either raining or cloudy for roughly two months now where I live and I was already sick of it one week in. MORE SUN PLEASE.

If it was tape delayed, shouldn't it have been a day later? With the sun going east to west, shouldn't China be half a day behind the US?

Um... no. Got that one backwards - it's always best to think about how the first major new year's celebrations are in Sydney.

Well, there seemed to be a lot of fireworks involved. Traditionally fireworks go off at night so you can see them.

China is a nation of a billion vampires. They hate the sun.

That's okay, they'll just substitute the sun with one that's prettier (http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/26153578/).
