i took a fresh rosemary herb bread loaf from the farmers market, and toasted it lightly. Meanwhile, i sauted a blend of woodhen mushrooms, onions, garlic, and zucchini in butter until it got a bit of a char. I also roasted a red bell pepper.

Then i layered the bread with the mushroom mix, a thick slab of artisanal gouda from the same farmers market (made by the amazing Pt Reyes cheese guys), the roasted bell, a slice of Capricorn cheese studded with peppercorns, and the other half of bread, and toasted the lot again, to melt the cheese.

You guys, it was SO GOOD.

I just threw some store-bought roast beef and spicy mustard on wheat sandwich bread.

Tasty but boring!

shivam and shinji both fail for not using proper Talking Time sandwich notation, which I will demonstrate here with a grilled cheese:

toasted bread
melted american cheese
toasted bread

And here again with a simple BLT:

hoagie roll
light mustard
sliced pickle
two slices bacon
sliced tomato
shredded lettuce
hoagie roll

I made a sandwich this morning and forgot to put it in my work bag. :( Here's what's sitting on the counter at home:

rye bread
Lusty Monk "Burn in Hell" Chipotle Mustard
smoked cheddar cheese
local Giacomo's spicy sopressata
some sort of local yogurt cheese
rye bread

This Lusty Monk (http://www.lustymonk.com/) stuff is pretty tasty, by the way. It seems to be available in a totally random selection of states (Colorado | Georgia | New Mexico | North Carolina | South Carolina | Tennessee), though you can buy it online too.

It's funny because I tend to be a boring old "just bread and meat" man, but according to Luana, I make a damn fine 'awesome' sandwich. Here's what it looks like of late:

Toasted wheat bread
Sprouts (alfalfa or brocco)
Sliced Tomato
Dijon Mustard
Sliced Onion
Roast Beef
Toasted wheat bread

Potato chips in the middle somewhere are optional.

It requires special (and pricy) bread, so I don't make it often, but the best current sandwich I make is:

Garlic Cheddar bread
Provolone and/or
Cheddar and/or
Swiss and/or
Pepper Jack
Parmesan jalapeno bread

Buttered and grilled, it can't be beat.

High five! Potato chips may be optional, but they increase a sandwich's awesomeness exponentially.

Made this for lunch Sunday afternoon.

toasted ciabatta
fresh ground black pepper
provolone cheese slices
some blue cheese crumbles
sauteed mushrooms and onions
leftover sirloin steak from the previous night sliced thinly and against the grain
scant mayo
toasted ciabatta

The onions and mushrooms were hot enough to get the cheeses all melty. It was fantastic.
