Check the spreadsheet! Let's play Guessing Time!
Hi guys! Who wants to play Guessing Time? What, you don't know it? It's simple! I need two players. Each player gets one of these four boards: Tyrants board A! Tyrants board B! Game characters board 1! Game characters board 2! Each player will also receive via PM an image of one tyrant/character from their opponent's board. Players then take turns asking yes/no questions to figure out which person their opponent is holding. Questions may be about the image (is your tyrant's avatar a human?), or they may be about the tyrant/character (has your tyrant done any LPs?/is your character from a Final Fantasy?). Try to make it something your opponent has a chance to figure out - if they answer wrong, you're the one who'll lose! The first player to correctly guess their opponent's identity wins! Still don't get it? Allow me to demonstrate! Demonstration: In this scenario, Yimothy is playing against Yimothy. Yimothy has been allocated Tyrant board A, and his game identity (from his opponent's board) is Yimothy. Yimothy, on the other hand, has been allocated Tyrant board A, and his game identity (from his opponent's board) is Yimothy. Yimothy goes first: Quote:
And sees that it is. He replies: Quote:
And sees that he is (Yimothy picked a pretty poor question - all the tyrants in the game are Yimothy's favourites. That's why they were included! (this is a joke, please don't take offence if you're not on the game board)). He also amends his board to reflect the answer to his own question, and includes it in his reply: Quote:
Quote:
And there you have it! Simple, no? For the first game, one player will have Tyrant board A, and the other will have Tyrant board B (unlike in the example above, the players will not be the same person, will not have the same person, and will not use the same board). This will require a decent level of participation: you'll need to edit and repost the board to remove tyrants you've eliminated after each answer, and I'd prefer if we weren't waiting days on end for responses. Audience members are encouraged to help players figure out which faces on the board fit the questions asked. Any volunteers? P.S. If anyone's wondering why a lot of the game characters have the wrong names, it's because I made this game as a festivus present for Brickroad. Many of the game characters have had their names changed to the ones he used in his LPs or mentioned on his blog as having used when he played the games or whatever. If anyone's wondering why some tyrants have the wrong avatars, it's because those jerks changed them after I collected the images. Or, in Mogri's case, because he once had an avatar from one of my LPs, and as far as I'm concerned he still does. |

shivam, namelessentity, your true identities have been sent. The game starts now.
shivam, it is your turn to ask a question. |

what board(s) are they playing?
#8

Good question! shivam is trying to find nameless somewhere on Tyrants Board A, while nameless is seeking shivam's hiding place in Tyrants Board B.

Alright Nameless, is your avatar a humanoid?

Wow, starting out with the hard questions.
Yes, my avatar is quite humanoid. Is your avatar smiling? |

Nope.
Are you looking left? |
#12

#15
Wow, shivam is good in this game.
#16
Yes, yes he is. I have wanted to steal his questions because they are so good, but that really wouldn't be in the spirit, would it.

Yes, i am more than one person.
Are you in one of my two favorite JRPGs? |
#18
(In retrospect, I should have asked if you were more than 3 people, as that would have actually narrowed people down)
No, I am not. Going big or going home, are you DaiKaiju? |

I am perplexed by the "more than one person" question.

This is post 4,078
Personhood on Talkingtime is defined by having 2000 posts. Before that, you are scum and a nothing.
Accordingly, for every 2000 posts afterward, you are an additional person. And once again scum and a nothing, alternating on each iteration. |

a long time ago, i postulated that when a person has about 2000 posts, they're invested in a forum or community enough to be noticed by regulars and to have a presence and persona of their own. Before that threshold, folks are still testing the waters and not yet fully committed to the community, and not as easily recognized.
This is not to say that this is a good or bad thing, but just an observation on how communities on the internet work. TT took that idea, and we got the concept of 'personhood' at 2000 posts, becoming a full fledged member of the board. And every 2k thereafter, you gained another 'person'. I don't regret many things, but I do regret this. |

Good thing I didn't get that question! I mean, nobody seems to have more than one person in their avatar picture!

Big success! Now for round 2!
shivam, would you like to defend your title or retire on your perfect record? Also, should game two be tyrants or game characters? Or both? |
#29
Game two should be game characters and any rounds after that should be random.

Everyone should get a chance to play. I'm happy to retire.
