Default Worlds Collide: Let's Play Mushroom Kingdom Fusion!

Mushroom Kingdom Fusion is a fangame that has been in development for several years. Its main draw is the use of characters and levels from a wide variety of games, yet unlike many similar games it never feels like it's just relying on recognition. It's also hella hard. Between updates I'll let you vote on the character to use for the next update, though I reserve the right to veto it in case you fuckers try to make me use Classic Luigi over and over or I need Meta Knight to complete a particularly difficult level. For the first update I'll be using Mario. Here's a list of characters. I'll leave their abilities a surprise (or you could just look them up i guess)

Mario (Super Mario Bros.)
Luigi (Super Mario Bros.)
Sonic the Hedgehog (Sonic the Hedgehog)
Miles "Tails" Prower (Sonic the Hedgehog)
Sir Arthur (Ghosts 'n' Goblins)
Wario (Wario Land)
Link (The Legend Of Zelda)
Simon Belmont (Castlevania)
Vile (Mega Man X)
Ryu Hayabusa (Ninja Gaiden)
Classic Mario (Super Mario Bros.)
Classic Luigi (Super Mario Bros.)
Meta Knight (Kirby)
Proto Man (Mega Man)
Mega Man (Mega Man)
Zero (Mega Man X)

Also, these characters aren't in the current version, but are planned for later inclusion (if they are finished before I finish the LP, I'll do an episode on them):

Kirby (Kirby)
Samus Aran (Metroid)
R.O.B. (Nintendo)
Firebrand (Demon's Crest)
Amy Rose (Sonic the Hedgehog)
WALUIGI (SUPER MARIO BROS.)
Zero Suit Samus (Metroid)

I'm about to start recording the first episode. See you there!

I'd suggest putting this on ice until the whole game is finished. Wouldn't it be bad to complete the game right before the worlds awesomest update?

If that happens I'll revive the thread. The game is very playable, I think like 20 levels (out of hundreds) and those few characters are the only things left to be done.

How long have they been at this? I didn't think it was ever going to be "done," just continually updated indefinitely.

Either way, I'm now recording the first episode (last night was kind of crazy, sorry)

This game has been in development for how many years and they still haven't fixed the awful placeholder physics for Mario?! It took like a month for DragezeeY and I to do SMB3 physics and we were just two guys working alone.
What's the point of adding a million other characters if you can't get your foundation in order?

No, the physics aren't that bad, I just suck at it.

No, the physics are way off. At one point you hit 3 ? blocks with one jump.

Yeah, I think bouncing off overhead blocks takes a frame or two longer. That's the only flaw with it, though, at least the only one noticeable to the average player.

Yeah, but like the only purely Castlevania stage is based on the graveyard levels from The Adventure and Legends.

Physics look fine to me. I mean, they may not be Mario-perfect but the game looks playable.

Will you be showing off the other characters before asking us to vote?

That depends. I can show off weaker versions of each now, or you can wait an update or 2 for me to reach the store, allowing me to do in-depth demonstrations of their powerups.

Might be a good idea to switch over to recording the commentary after the gameplay. That way when you hit a tough patch and hit dying, you can ramble on about the quirks of the level or what all these little blue coins everything keeps dropping are instead of just going silent/swearing.

Not a bad idea, actually.

It's pretty weird seeing a Big Boo that takes more than 3 hits.

I think that's because some characters have weapons that can actually damage him directly. Plus they rarely include things from Mario without making them harder somehow, wait til we see the boss from Mario Paint's flyswatting minigame much later.
