That wine ad has a really weird voice over. I think someone mixed up the audio & video files.

I know it's impossible for any new Star Trek show to capture the deep nostalgic love I have for TNG so I almost hope that that Star Trek: Picard is just an old curmudgeonly Jean-Luc hanging out at his retirement chateau and vineyard, getting tipsy on wine, and inviting over his old Starfleet companions so that he can hector them about how much better the United Federation of Planets was back in the day. At least that way it won't hurt so much when I'm disappointed by the new show.

I really like the TMP/TNG theme being played on a flute at the end. I assume it's a nod to Inner Light, and it's a nice touch.

Look at it this way. There's almost no way that this show can be a worse sequel to TNG than its films were. So as far as I'm concerned, it's all uphill from here.

I get not wanting to be burned, but don't go in assuming you'll hate it either! If it's good, GREAT! If it's bad, nbd, we've had worse Star Trek things.

You just know it's going to be 12 episodes of Picard running around in a black mask until he finally puts the uniform back on in the finale

All jokes aside. Going by the rough details we know about the show and the flow of events and the people in charge of the show, I'm guessing the crisis of faith Picard had, was how he/Starfleet handled the destruction of Romulus. So it'll be interesting to see how he gets back on his feet/back into the game during this show. Also interesting that he retired as an Admiral.
