If you are planning on buying something else before Christmas instead of this, you're doing it wrong.

I can't think of the names off the top of my head but did anyone not put the mohawk scout and the lancer with shades in their party?

Is that a hint for us? Oh you
I'm hoping to at least start the first mission, but the power of Fallout 3 compels me. |

Man, this game looks sooooo sweet, but I don't have a PS3, AND I don't like strategy games (usually). I love the art style, though, and I hope something else uses it soon!

I just played through Skirmish 1, and it was a good way of familiarizing myself with the different classes. Once I figured out that Snipers can zoom in, I used them as much as possible. Unfortunately, I also found out that they have limited ammo, and I was kicking myself for forgetting to include an engineer. Once I had a handle on things, however, the results were pleasing.
I wish I could check and see what the potentials do in the deploy screen rather than just their names. There's too many to remember what most of them do, and I was going into it blind. |

This! It's so refreshing to be rewarded for efficiently completing the objectives of each battle, rather than faffing about trying to keep enemies alive so each of your guys can get a hit in and earn experience.

I asked in another thread, but didn't get a reply, so here goes: How long is that game supposed to be, anyway? I need to see if I can squeeze it in before Persona 4, or wait until after.

Well, I played the demo, and liked it but didn't love it, so if I get this it will be down the road at a lower price.

Oh my GOSH the bridge level has so many options! Crawl in the grass, climb a building, repair sandbags with engineers, beat a tank with a lancer, snipe enemies, etc. etc.
I LOVE THIS GAME. |

So far I've encountered some very in-offensive, Lunar-style "la la la laaaa" singing from Rosie and that's all.
This game is fantastic and you both should buy it regardless of singing because its so fantastic so go buy it now ok. Has anyone done the first unlockable optional mission yet? The vegetable supply route one? That one is so much fun, although the hit percentages screwed me in the end and it took two more turns than it should have to destroy the main objectives. |

This is getting really weird for me. I'm *so* excited for this game. I *really* want to play it.
And... it's sitting on my shelf. I just also really want to finish at least one good big LBP level before I switch. Stupid fall rush season. But I'm pretty sure I'm really going to enjoy it. |

Actually, I don't think it will be nearly as long as P4. I would think a month is plenty of time to complete this game.

The dude(Jann) is a lancer who is wearing makeup and gets a stat boost around other guys. I don't remember the name of the woman but she gets a stat boost around other chicks.
I don't think they're story characters but it caught me off guard when I read Jann's bio and found out he was a dude, he's pretty androgynous looking. I would say he's about on par with the guy from Gurren Lagann. The woman is a little on the butch side but there are some straight(?) women in the game who are portrayed similarly. I kinda like that it's in there and a big deal isn't being made about it. |

It's really really excellent. I have some very minor interface gripes (wish the map overlaid the ranges of the various soldiers and that you wouldn't get autofired unless you're moving) but all and all this is fantastic. So many good design choices, like the fact that you level up classes instead of characters. Or that you can spend XP however you like. Or how, if you really need to and have the ammo to burn, you can pour all your CP into a single unit and let them be a mini-god for one turn.
Is there ever a point where I can reassign the CP granting ability from the story characters to the 'generics'? That's the only thing that don't seem quite as open as far as gameplay: if you're bringing a lancer it's hard to take someone other than largo, since he'll give you an extra CP per turn... Edit: One of the shocktroopers is bi. And I love the 'genrics', since they're anything but. I noticed Vyce had a special piece of dialog when he saved Akia "Medic, Medic! Akia, baby, hang in there." |

The talking heads get a bit annoying, especially since the mouth movement look like bad puppets, but I guess they're better than in Fire Emblem games. And there's much more actual cinema scenes than FE, too. It's a good thing that the action is so stellar. It's not at all disappointing so far. Peeps are MISSING OUT.
And that's even with me forgetting to utilize orders. Also, I really wish that Snipers were more accurate. I'm going to have to work on that. |

Especially since it always seems like the enemy's snipers are waaaaay more accurate than yours.
