Default part 3/3

Anyway, Mist Cave! Or, well, we would, except:

Quote:
Ceodore: Why not!? There's no way my father would
give a decree like that...

Soldier: No one may pass... Orders from the king...

Hooded Man: All right...

Ceodore: Hey!

Hooded Man: Brace yourself, Ceodore!
The Hooded Man attacks the guard, who is revealed to be a monster! It dies before I can turn off Auto.

Quote:
Ceodore: ...

Hooded Man: I figured as much.

Ceodore: The monster...he's got that soldier!
Time to head inside! Mist Cave hasn't changed, reall--

What's this?

Hi there buddy.

Quote:
I am on a journey across the world to bestow new
names upon the populace. Sadly, not many people
want to have their names changed anymore...

The situation has grown so bad, I feel I can hardly
even call myself Namingway any longer.

Instead, I am now trying to serve others in new and
more exciting ways.

Could you come to visit me again once you've
progressed a bit further in your adventure?
Well, on the plus side, you guys can't change Ceodore's name to PANTS or ○×∆□☆ or something. Anyway, this guy is for a later update. Moving on.

A rumbling sound plays as we progress through the cave. It's probably nothing. Everything is fine. So let's talk about treasure! We find a Steel Helm, and...oh, that's not nothing.

Ceodore tries to cross, but the cave rumbles, and...

Imagine me pinching the bridge of my nose. One day, Ceodore will succeed at a simple task. One day...but not today. The Hooded Man, in a kind/stupid gesture, jumps down after us.

He can indeed, so now we have to find our way out. Unlike his dad, Ceodore does not have the Exit/Teleport spell. However, there's more treasure down here! Silent Bell, Mythril Gloves, Phoenix Down, Remedy, Antidote, X-Potion, Arctic Wind, Cottage, Chainmail.

Also secret passages. There's a save room up ahead, and not-Namingway's in there too. He offers to sell us basic items, and also reminds us that we can't leave except by going forward, so maybe watch out with your save file.

Eventually, we come to a chamber of sorts, and the shaking continues.

Quote:
Hooded Man: Where's it coming from?

*shake*

Hooded Man: We're directly above it!

Now we fight the Tunneler. It's not too bad. It hits for about 150 or so, but Ceodore's Cura will heal for 500, so. Eventually, it starts using Earthquake a lot. This would be an issue, except Ceodore gets Float around this time, so you can avoid it easily. The fight's not much of a challenge, except it has too much HP.

But eventually, it will fade to dust.

Quote:
Hooded Man: You all right?

Ceodore: I'm fine! Was that thing the inhabitant
of this cave?

Hooded Man: I'd say so...this time, at least.

Ceodore: Huh?
With that, we continue onward.

The stairs drop us off near the end of vanilla Mist Cave, but let's pick up these last few chests before we move on--

Oh yeah it's a full moon. Well this is awkward...run away! Thunder Dragons are a little outside my paygrade right now.

Right, where was I? Oh yes, treasure. A Hi-Potion, Bomb Crank, and Mallet round out the rewards of the cave, and with that, we progress onward. As we do, we notice some soldiers also in the cave.

Quote:
Soldier: They must not escape... Orders from the
king...

Hooded Man: There they are.

Ceodore: !?

Over there, too!

Quote:
Hooded Man: We're surrounded!

Ceodore: What should we do!? There's no way out.

Hooded Man: What the...?

Ceodore: The mist is thickening!

Hooded Man: Keep quiet...
The mist on the screen completely blocks things out for a bit...

Quote:
Soldier: They weren't in Mist, either...

Soldier: So that means...

Soldier: They must be somewhere close to Baron.
The soldiers file out, while Ceodore and Hooded Man poke their heads out from below the screen.

Quote:
Ceodore: This mist...it saved us.

Hooded Man: ...

Ceodore: What is it?

Hooded Man: Nothing. Let's move before they come
back again.
And now we leave.

Quote:
Hooded Man: That's right.

Ceodore: I thought the mountain east of the village
had caved in.

Hooded Man: We'll take advantage of that.

Ceodore: Huh?

Hooded Man: They wouldn't expect a couple of
fugitives to head that way, I would imagine.

Ceodore: We're walking right into a collapsed
mountain!?

Hooded Man: That's exactly right.

Ceodore: Wait a minute!

Ceodore: Tell me, why are you doing all this for me?

Hooded Man: I'm not doing this for you.

There's a man I'm after... Someone that I have to
defeat, even if it costs me my own life.

Ceodore: A man? Who is he?

Hooded Man: ...

A dragoon...ex-Baron.

Ceodore: Hey...his name wouldn't be...
SCENE CHANGE

Quote:
Porom: What is it, Elder?

Elder: The dragon... It's crying!
SCENE CHANGE

And that wraps up Ceodore's Tale, on a cliffhanger. The game prompts us to save clear data for the tale; you should probably do that.

I know this is supposed to be the "primary" Tale, but all of these scene changes are getting really annoying. Thankfully, I don't remember the other Tales having it quite this bad.

Next time, on Dragon Ball Z The After Years: several Tales! Here is a list of tales you can choose from:
  • Rydia's Tale
  • Yang's Tale
  • Palom's Tale
  • Edge's Tale
  • Porom's Tale
  • Edward's Tale

Highest votes when I post the Ceodore Challenge update wins. Please look forward to it!

Porom seems pretty together nowadays, let's check in on her Tale.

The teleporter maze was all the farther I ever made it in this game.

The implication is that the Red Wings consists of a single ship and about five people.

I think this is consistent with the original game since Golbez flew then I to several defeats against Dwarf tanks and whatnot, but surely Cid could have built another fleet in the past 17 years.

I can't remember what the best and worst tales were, but I remember liking Edward and the Twins, so let's save those.

Edge is lame, let's get him over with.

Somebody is cosplaying Rydia and ganked her dragon, we should probably see if she's okay.

There was never any hope of playing these Tales chronologically anyway, so.

(I'll probably get the interlude before the Final Tale)

My assumption here is that the other ships crashed into the ocean and had no survivors.

IIRC, Edge's Tale was pretty cool as you try all the different characters, Palom and Yang were nice, while Rydia and Porom were kinda meh... Edward's Tale was the worst by far though

I would say to go in chronological order, so... Rydia

Palom's Tale & Edward's Tale were the only two that I liked, of those that I played. Still, I don't know if that means that I think we should start there or space them out, so I'm abstaining.

Porom's tale. The twins always got short thrift on character progression.
