This is open to anyone as far as critiques go, but I'll take your advice with a grain of salt if all you want to do is talk about spoilerpops or how you didn't read them, but... Thanks in advance for ANY input at all!
I think my general comments are as follows (but they are pretty much Eddie-specific):

1. Those spoiler things are driving me nuts.

2. I am a guy who loves knowing about the meat of a game. To a guy like me, Fire Emblem level ups are like cocaine. I don't generally want to see blind runs or playthroughs of games, I want to see something I've never seen before (I know this is likely difficult given your love of running games blind, but there you go).

3. I kind of dislike some of the attitude you put into your LPs. I understand that you've got something of a schtick where you somehow thrive as "the guy that most people thing is a forum troll", but it doesn't come off as confidence, and that turns me off from reading your stuff. If you label your LP as "bad", I'm not likely to hold it in high regard, regardless of the quality. From what I've read, you're not technically bad at doing LPs (aside from that spoiler shit which drives me bananas), but I think I'd prefer it with more of an attitude that says "this LP is awesome (even if the game I'm playing is shit)."

4. Seriously I'm not reading your Treasure of the Rudras LP because I can't stand that spoiler crap.

My advice. Grain of salt and all of that.

Thanks! That makes 100% of everyone who commented on them except Raven and myself saying the spoilerpops need to go the hell away, so starting next LP they will be gone, assuming there IS a next one.

As for the 'bad LP' stuff, it's more intended to remove any sense of sanctity than to denigrate the process. But I see what you mean about the whole idea. I guess I can always subvert the brand by making them called "Good LPs by Guild" hahaha, that seems a bit pretentious to me but I can roll with it. I feel silly just reading that. hahaha

Why not just call them "LPs by Guild" and leave the quality evaluation to the readers critics readers.

I don't like to be made aware that an LPer is abusing emulator features like rewind to get through a game. It just makes the whole undertaking feel cheaper. You can still do it (I obviously won't be able to tell), but don't tell me about it.

All attempts at "branding" also come off as creepy and inappropriate. Don't make me feel like something you'd like to exploit to advance yourself.

Hahaha, I told you they were bad though!

Alright, IF I make more, in light of these inputs, I'll follow every one of them. I'm not going to be dishonest about cheating though, so I guess I'll just have to stop doing it. :[
advance myself in the wild and high-power world of tt lps ? :
Unless it's a game I've played before and liked, I prefer to do blind LPs. I could just stop advertising the fact that they're blind I guess.

Not to bag on Guild, since I appreciate the changes he's already made to his Rudras LP in response to criticism, and I feel the following goes for all LPs: please, please take non-blurry screenshots.

1. It's not hard.
2. Good pixel art deserves to be seen accurately, especially if you're showing it off to other people.
3. In some games, blur makes it a struggle just to read onscreen text.

I'm not 100% sure but that could just be the game. I don't normally think much about fonts but that one is so bad that even I notice it.

The font is indeed terrible, but those aren't high-fidelity screenshots.

Yeah. My screen's tiny and I didn't lean in and I have fuzzy eyes and the sun was in my eyes and Kishi's part hawk and crisp screencaps murdered my family.

Yo, are there any opinions on here Re: Romhacks? Because I've got one I'd like to show off.

It's the good kind of Romhack tho.

Yes they exist.

Romhacks have been LP'd here before, so I don't think there are any strong opinions about them here no.

Are you planning on doing a video or screenshot LP? (I assume that I know the answer but I decided to ask just in case.)

Personally I get tired of watching people fail repeatedly (especially if they're doing it on purpose "trying" to be funny). But if you're good at playing the romhack or if it just doesn't matter I don't really have any problems with it. I just might not decide to watch.

My current LP is basically a ROM-hack in spirit, and we've had plenty before, so I say go for it.

Though I agree that you should try to edit out multiple failures. I killed basically an entire episode because it was nigh unwatchable.

That was my bad. I do these things in batches and some reason when I opened thread in a new window it didn't open to latest post. It's been fixed now

FYI- On hiatus means not updated in two months

Yeah Sorry I haven't done shit for SFC for awhile. When I was updating I was basically writing bullshit during my lunch breaks and since the start of February I've basically been working through lunch 100% of the time because SHIT GOT INSANE.

I've got MOST of a full update all written out. I'll probably post it tonight. Probably.

Hopefully.

No promises.

Is there a way to record video on my Wii (or Wii U in Wii mode, whatever) without spending a hundred and fifty bucks on a video capture device? I've been wanting to do a LP of Fatal Frame 2 for a while and thought it would be nice to do the Wii version since most people wouldn't have seen it.

I can justify $50 toward this project but not much more than that.

Or would my best route be getting a bluetooth dongle and wireless sensor bar and using Dolphin?

(crossposting to LP sandbox and random requests for knowledge)

I think a while ago in this this thread or the tech one, there was discussion about rigging an Arduino as a sort of hacked video transmission system.

But if you don't want to basically build your own recording system from scratch, you're not really going to find one worth using for much less then 150$.

Is it cool if I post a non-talking-time only sort-of LP video in this thread for advice?

Cool!

I was using Fraps at the time, but I've since swapped to Bandicam. I've got more footage, but haven't had a chance to record any more commentary. I did some fairly in-depth commentary editing (for me), but Windows Movie Maker is absolute garbage for it. Any recommendations for moderately priced alternatives?

I know it's a large price tag to start, but I bought Premiere Elements 11 a few years ago for 100$ or so (and Elements 10 before that), and don't regret it. My new laptop has Premiere Elements 12 on it, and I might get an upgrade key for my desktop just so I have consistency between my editing platforms.

The subscription version of Premiere CC is 20$/month, it seems, as well.

Sony Movie Studio/Vegas is another one I know a bunch of people use, and it seems to range from 50$ and upwards (quickly), though I have not used it myself.
