I agree with that, but I'm also surprised how quickly I've adapted to playing a lot of 2D games with the thumb stick.

I still hope they put out an official left joycon option with a real D-Pad in the thumb stick position. Bummed that wasn't a footnote at e3

If you are handy enough to want to risk ruining your joycons, this looks pretty nice

If I had the money to blow I'd buy a completely separate joycon set to put this mod on.

I'm surprised at how rarely that I find myself frustrated at the d-buttons on the L-con, but I did get a couple Pokken controllers for use with 2D games.

It's not the best D-Pad, but I still say the 8-bitdo ones are worth the price if you want a cheap retro controller, especially since they also work on PC and can be made to work with many other things.

This ad is...rather unreal. (And no, not because it's Minecraft, but...but...)

Does this mean Banjo for Smash?

Here's a link to it.

It's a $12 grip for your Switch that lets you play in tate (vertical) mode for schmups and such. The Kickstarter is an abbreviated 18 day campaign with no bells and whistles, basically just preorders to put the device into production.

Already did the moment ResetEra accounced it.

(So did people just ignore that entire video? I mean, Nintendo promoting Xbox and vice versa with Microsoft pomoting Switch...I know some companies would rather refer to their "competitors" in passing with a non descriptive "other consoles", but man, it's just so odd to seem them each platform equally promoted here like seeing Disney and Warner Bros. characters in Who Framed Roger Rabit...except they're not trying to outdo each other in screentime.)

I wish Under Defeat got ported to Switch as well. And Radiant Silvergun while we're at it. We could use more G-Rev lovin'.

Microsoft may own Minecraft but it's not like they're adverse to money. This is good for Nintendo and good for Microsoft, and in light of the Fortnite controversy, I find it hard to not see that video as a subtle and appropriate dunk on Sony.

I know, but it's like...

We've never seen two video game giants cooperate like this while still in the buisness. The closest we got was the Sega x Nintendo partnership with the Sonic Adventure game rereleases on GameCube, but that was after the Dreamcast had fallen and Sega exited the hardware buisness. This is like teaming up mid-competition!

Imagine if Sega and Nintendo decided to team up instead of Sega making the Saturn: Not only would've it been crazy but it would've been a genius and unprecedented move to take down a singular threat (Sony). Not to mention the questions that come after once they had defeated their common enemy: Would Sega and Nintendo reverted back to their feirce rivalry?

It just still feels weird! I know it doesn't in a buisness sense, but still...

Eh, I'm mostly sure that MS is transitioning away from Xboxes as discrete gaming consoles and into Xboxes as cheap, reliable, plug-and-play PCs mostly used for gaming.

Minecraft also had a substantial history as a multiplatform game, and when Microsoft bought Mojang, they made a big point about how that was going to continue. It's good that they seem to be sticking to that promise, but it's also not as surprising as it would be if they did a Switch version of Halo or Forza.

Microsoft owns their own platform, but they are also a pretty significant third party publisher of games on Nintendo platforms. Minecraft in particular is all but a separate division from Xbox.

I think the amazement is less that Minecraft, a Microsoft owned property, is on the Switch, because Bongo is right that this isn't the first time a Microsoft property has shown up on a Nintendo platform (and not even the first time Minecraft has been on Switch).

The amazement is more from the fact that both Nintendo and Microsoft are essentially promoting each other's consoles indirectly with the shown advertisement saying that you can play with friends on either platform and are plastering both the Switch and XBOX logos all over the advertisement in equal measure.

Oh man, portable, vertical Ikaruga would be unbelieveable. For $12 I may have to back it.

Fake edit: I went ahead and backed it before posting. Is there a list of games that can be played vertically?

I wasn't planning on buying Ikaruga once I got my Switch since I still have it on Gamecube, but as soon as I get my Flip Grip, I'll be buying it. YOU SOLD ME A SECOND COPY OF IKARUGA, PARISH

As far as the d-pad debate goes, I find it allows for much more accurate inputs. I am able to do fighting game commands much better. Like, this is the first ever controller in which I can reliably do 360 inputs
