Default How thick do you like your Oatmeal?

My personal preference is "use as little milk as I can get away with" thick.

How about you guys?

Greedy Smurf should be able to walk across it with no issue.

Not exactly "Fairly Viscous" but closer to that than to "Thin n' Soupy".

Thick but not requiring chewing. Also steel cut oats, not rolled!

If I can't eat it with a fork, it's wrong.

steel cut - a bit soupy is ok since the oats have a bit more chew to them
old fasioned - fairly viscious. old fasioned still have some chew. there's not enough oat powder to fully congeal everything either, though so the goal is to end up with something thicker than sogy cereal in milk but not quite something that will hold its own shape
instant oats - avoid. if you have to, go with something that holds its own shape so you feel like maybe you should try to chew it. add fresh fruit, dried fruit and/or nuts and its just edible.

I like it in between. Too thick and it's a chore. Unrelated, bananas go in there! I will not hear otherwise.

I recently bought one of those fancy Zojirushi fuzzy-logic rice cookers and it can also make oatmeal. One morning I woke up early, mixed up some steel cut oats in it with water and milk, let it cook for the egregious hour or more that the pot thought it needed to do the job and honestly it was wonderful.

But lets face it. Usually its a plastic cup of instant oats with cinnamon and sugar cooked with the hot water from the coffee machine at work. And honestly? That's fine.

Ours has a timer setting so we can mix everything before going to bed and wake up to really good oatmeal!

Yeah, mine does too but I like mine made with a little bit of milk and I'm a little bit, let's say, hesitant to leave milk sitting out all night. But I've done it with just water that way and it's totally good too!
