Okay, okay! I'm heading out the door in a few moments, but when I get back I'll put a bunch of stuff up that you guys can look at! In the meanwhile, as a sample of what I can do, here's the Link that I made tungwene for Festivus many moons ago:

It was my first time attempting such a thing, so there are a bunch of rough edges and whatnot. It's completely washable (I don't use felt because of that) and all of the clothes are removable!

This is relevant to my interests and I would like to subscribe to your news-letter.

We're not making it to PAX this year (really need to get a second car). But I would love a Motherfucker pin to death. And one with my current avatar...

I should put a summary of artitude here before I begin talking about my dreams of entrepreneurship:

Quote:
Hi! I'm Luana! Here is my creative background and stuff.
  • creative writing since 10
  • studied journalism for about four years
  • did freelance writing for a short time
  • took a bunch of graphic design and regular ol' art classes in high school and college
  • clothcraft
  • papercraft
  • painting
  • pretty much anything you can think of
<insert photo samples here when Flickr Pro account is renewed>
Anyway, here is my plan for this here venture! (I like calling it a venture because someone once offered to help me get started.)

I want to open an online store and hawk my handmade items of awesomeness. It doesn't have to be through Etsy -- in fact, I would prefer to have it go through a storefront linked to my website -- but for right now, it seems to be the best bet for me because I'll be able to gain a decent amount of visibility that way. Because most of my networking has been in the world of VIDEO GAMES over the past ten years or so, I would probably offer a lot of game-related merchandise, especially concerning the plushies. However, I figure a lot of the papercraft will also include other designs. Lor has quite a few pieces that would translate well to greeting cards and stationery, and she has some mini-comics that she wants to sell as well.

Here's a sample of what I want to sell:
  • plushies (mostly video game stuff, but I would also consider doing other types)
  • pillows (larger plushies. first on my list will be a giant Percy head)
  • tote/shopping bags that are video gamed out
  • portable system cases
  • other electronics cases
  • cards and stationery
  • decals (like the ones you can put on your car or computer)\
  • buttons
  • t-shirts (both appliqued and screen-printed)
The t-shirts are where you come in! I would totally make TT t-shirts for interested parties! I would prefer to have a few different designs so I could make more than one at a time but I can also do singles. Not only that, but I also can hand-paint clothing as well. It would let me use a wider range of colors, but would also be more time-intensive (and therefore cost more).

So there you have it! Over the weekend (the parts that are not on vacation) and the next week I should have some sample goods for you all to peruse. In the meanwhile, pipe up if there are any things in particular you'd like to see!

Silkscreening is a pretty cheap hobby, actually...but maybe we're talking about two different methods. Anyway, can't wait to see!

Also, how's your time it takes to make stuff vs. what you can charge for it? I'm so slow when it comes to crafting I could never charge a reasonable price to make it worth my while.

I want things. I want to pay money. I want to pay money in exchange for things.

You should totally make me a Metroid plush and take all my money.

I don't actually have the money (or supplies!) to do the silkscreening by hand at the moment (although I do want a darkroom in my permanent abode someday for photography), so what I'm going to do is work with my uncles to use their commercial screenprinting supplies. I can make a tidy profit that way and also produce the shirts quickly.

Shirts and other wearables that I'm using the printing gear for would be the fastest. I'm thinking a week or so turnaround on that. Depending on how elaborate the plushie is... that could be a bit more. The nice thing is that any humanoid plushie could be easy to pump out because they'll have the same basic body. Otherwise... depending on the size it'd probably take me a few hours to pump out a Metroid. I don't have a job so I have the time. :P

Apparently I can only do wrong today. Mixing up my words and whatnot all day.

Or I could be secretly upsetting people on purpose so people remember me.

Fiendishly clever! Not yet a real person, but someone who I have a vague recollection of!

Luana, friendship bracelets? Can we buy those from you or Lor? Lor should help.
