Do you folks actually wait for your oven to pre-heat to the desired temperate, or do you just turn it on and shove the food in and tweak the cooking time to compensate? I can't be the only one who does this, right?

oven cooking is finicky enough as it is. I don't want to be guessing even more when it comes to bake times.

I drive my wife crazy by never setting a timer when I cook things in the oven. I can smell when that pizza is done, thank you very much.

I always preheat, though, I'm not a savage.

It depends what I'm cooking. For baking, I would never just throw the food in there, because I need precision. But if I'm reheating frozen pizza or something? Sure, whatever, 300F is close enough to 400F, toss it in.

I was thinking of getting a thermometer to temp all my food but then I realized I basically never cook meat so it'd be kind of pointless. Tt

I preheat but basically I just turn it on when I start preparing and throw it in when I finish preparing, no clue what the actual temp is.

I just set the dial, wait 10 minutes, and if the heat feels right in goes the food. Else, wait 10 more minutes. I consider that preheating.

I mean I don't have a way of measuring that it's precisely 450 but hey, the food's gonna get cooked through. That's what matters.

I preheat because I ain't got no convection oven to make it heat evenly. Have to wait for heat transfer to take its course.

I usually preheat it for however much time it takes me to turn it on before I start prepping the food to the time I'm ready to put it in.

My oven doesn't have an indicator for pre-heating ready, so I just kinda do whatever. I'd prefer to wait for pre-heating though.

If you're baking cookies or bread, you need some precision.

If you're heating up your fish sticks, it doesn't really matter, you just keep them in the oven until they get crispy.

I didn't used it, but I generally do now that I am older and have patience. But I don't really have an oven anymore. It's all stove top for me these days. No stuffing, though.

if I'm, like, reheating pizza, I'll just shove it in when I've turned on the oven and then take it out when I can smell it (and it's sizzling).

if I'm actually cooking? Preheat.

If i'm baking? ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME OF COURSE I PREHEAT.
