Absolutely ridiculous videogame accomplishments thread

I've item and soul grinded everything in Castlevania Aria of Sorrow. Twice. And I'd do it again, I love that game lol.

This motherfucker took weeks:

I hunted him in Sapphire, full odds (1/8,192), using a custom e-reader event made by YTer imablisy that ends up being legit when sent to Home, since it makes it identical to Jirachi's sent from EU Pokemon Channel. I did this because there is no way in hell I'm going to hunt it by sending Jirachi's to GBA over and over again, whether it be from Channel or the bonus Colosseum disc, as that would take even longer. Since I hunted it full odds anyway, I consider it legit myself, I don't really care if anyone else doesn't. It was by far my longest shiny hunt anyway, longer than Arceus, longer than Celebi, longer than the various breeds I did at the beginning of this thread, longer than any individual hunt in my complete Scarlet file, etc.

Next target is Deoxys, likely using the Aurora Ticket even in Leaf Green. I'm sure that one will suck just as bad. Ugh.

I probably paid 5 or 10 bucks for my shiny Jirachi, lol. (In GO, shiny "cute" mythicals are generally one-offs from special paid tickets, either during GoFest or otherwise. You do have to get through a potentially months-long set of quests as well to actually get it, but it's mostly standard stuff that will happen eventually just playing the game anyway. Working on a long shiny Shaymin one right now.)

Also, I, uh, technically have two shiny Deoxys, @Kazin. Though I guess I'm a bit loathe to part with one since you can't manually change its form in GO...

Kazin

No need to part with one, @Kirin. I wouldn't mind having a Deoxys with me as the original trainer anyway.

I've two-looped NES Contra without taking a single hit on real hardware.

I beat RE3make on Nightmare difficulty without using ANY bonus items.

Got S+ Ranks with Leon and Claire in RE2K19.

Did a Professional S+ run of RE4make.

Got every single achievement/unlock in Risk of Rain 2, including the absolutely ridiculous one where you have to win a random daily trial with Mercenary without taking any damage, which as I'm sure you can imagine, requires waiting for a reasonably kind daily trial to just pop up.

The only thing I can think of offhand is how the first time I played through FFXII, I unleashed some ridiculous Quickening chain that killed Bergan before he was able to do anything at all.

Ah, right. While there's currently a gap (which will be rectifiable soon enough), I have collected every spirit in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and, more to the point, cleared a majority of the rematches without any spirits equipped, and the strong/obnoxious ones I've at least tried to use the weakest loadout that gets the job done. I'm going for a high score, you see.

This one wasn't bad at all, and I even caught it in an Ultra Ball (though I did have a Master Ball handy just in case):

Not pictured: the stupid minigame you have to play in Gen 5 to move Pokemon to it from Gen 4. I do not understand why I have to do Pal Park, then that stupid minigame, then two different programs on 3DS for some reason (Poke Transporter and Pokemon Bank), then Home, which itself is both a phone app and a Switch app. Maybe that's why they're ending Bank support soon... In any case, the main ones I wanted to get from old gens are now in Home.

The reason why is because they built the transfer process one step at a time, as fun activities to be mentioned in reviews of a single game product, and only later decided that they should (or, indeed, that they could) form a long-term plan and instead treat it as a software-as-a-service surrounding multiple games.

But even as individual tasks, they're not fun. Pal Park always seemed like a waste of time to me in particular - I have to run around to catch the Pokemon in a weirdo fake Master Ball... why, exactly? To get a bonus berry each time? I also just strongly dislike the gen 5 minigame in general.

Potato-quality picture (ten years ago), but I beat Battletoads, which makes me very proud.

Not as impressive as @ShakeWell and his two-loop no-death, but I've done a single run. (Not the cleanest, I could have died a few times in there, haha.)

Others I managed to get through:

- Mike Tyson's Punch-Out!!
- Super Punch-Out!!
- Holy Diver
- Ninja Gaiden III
- Silver Surfer
- Super R-Type III
- Contra: Hard Corps
- Super Cyborg
- No-death clear of Batman: The Video Game for Game Boy

I haven't beaten as many stupidly-difficult games as of late, which is probably best for my sanity, haha.

It's honestly nuts. That stupid eyeball tower, and the last run at the end with the wall enemies that shoot at you with the little green blobs flying around ready to knock you into a pit... I don't think I'll ever beat that one again.

I don't know if I'm in the minority, but I found Contra III on Hard to be more difficult than Hard Corps. Those darn sniper bullets are so fast, and then trying to handle the sand stage (even with the double-tap to spin faster) is a mess.

The honest answer to that depends on which version of Hard Corps and which ending of Hard Corps. Japanese silly ending? Yes, Contra III on Hard is definitely harder. US version best ending? I think that's harder than C3 on Hard.

I did the best ending, but it may have been because I used Browny, which honestly can wreck some bosses with some of his weapons. I won't say that there's a huge gap between the two, both are super tough... but I wonder if I used Ray with his standard loadout that I'd have a lot more trouble.

by "Best Ending" we mean the one with the final boss fight on top of the missile?

imho the hardest part of that route is just the fight against the Colonel where he jumps around randomly. it's a pretty weird fight to have in a game where attack sequences are otherwise so heavily scripted and telegraphed

ShakeWell

(he, etc.)
Yeah, that's the one, but honestly most of the ones that aren't the joke ending are pretty tough in the US version.
