another day, another piece of the chicken

And in a lateral move along the chicken we have today which is National Chicken Wing day. (Which I celebrated a couple of days earlier with wings from a local place. Which were overly salty for my tastes. And their sauce was just ketchup and a little bit of hot sauce mixed together - not a good flavor. It was a good thing I had a bottle of buffalo sauce on hand. Overall, not that great so I probably won't be ordering it again from there.)

So what flavors or sauces do you like on your chicken wings?
What dips do you use (if any)?
Do you prefer them breaded or not?
How do you feel about "boneless wings"?

I really like the salt & pepper rub Pizza Hut uses on their wings.

Depends on where I'm eating from. I like blue cheese, ranch is good sometimes, or dill.

Yes, but it's hardly a dealbreaker if not, so long as they're good.

Aren't they basically just glorified nuggets?

BBQ (or honey BBQ)
hot sauce / buffalo sauce
garlic parmesan
Ranch is the only dip for me.

I vastly prefer breaded over not.

I have no strong opinion about "boneless wings" but I do appreciate that they usually cost less.

Boneless chicken wings are not actually the same as traditional wings. Instead, boneless chicken wings are portions of the chicken breast, cut up into comparably sized pieces [and then prepared just like traditional wings].

I know this sounds like a "mistake" (ordering domestic fare at a restaurant specializing otherwise is usually a squandered opportunity, IMO), but the best wings I have ever had have always been from Indian restaurants. My favourite is probably tikka masala.

Otherwise, my preference is probably honey garlic or thai chili, or even just naked if the wings are good enough. I'll fuck with a hot wing, because I love spicy foods, but I find most hot wings to be the boring kind of spicy.

Same. I prefer sweet sauces or a nice savoury rub but I find the hot ones don't do interesting flavours.

But... that's what I was replying to, the question about boneless wings?
I did not pick up on the fact that you were spacing out your answers to match those four questions until right now, and apparently also completely missed the word boneless in the OP. Yeesh, dunno what my deal is, sorry!

I love wings, but I'm always a little disappointed when my order is majority wingettes (the oval-shaped ones) rather than drumettes (the drumstick-shaped ones). Worse ratio of skin & gristle to meat, and just more awkward to eat overall.

Wingettes are also known as flats (but that's not shown in the image):

(Most drumettes are cut down a bit more and don't have that much meat on them.)

I've heard that some people prefer one of the two larger "sub-parts" of the whole wing but I don't really have a preference. I do find the drumettes easier to eat and slightly easier to dip (without having to perform a bone removal operation) but neither of them are that easy to dip the way they come (which is an advantage that boneless wings have). So does anyone else have a wing parts preference?

I have never seen a drumette of that stature.

Flats are nice for quick consumption, but sometimes I like a meaty drumette.

I'm all about the drumettes.

I always like a good parmesan garlic sauce, which seems pretty reliably available. Usually a savory dry spice rub is great as well.

There's a wing stop going in literally across the street from my apartment, and I wonder how many wings I will be eating starting soon. (Probably not all that many actually. Wing Stop skimps on sauce in my experience. Most places seem to skimp on sauce, actually, which should be a crime.)
