So you have stopped at the diner for breakfast and are in the mood for something cooked to order, starchy and sweet.

So what are you having, dear?

Really depends on the variety and my mood. Can't really go wrong with any, as long as they're done right.

I tend to avoid starchy stuff at breakfast, eggs are the goal at a diner. My spouse doesn't like them so I never bother to make them at home.

But for the purposes of this poll I'll go with hash browns, those are tasty and the one time I tried to make them at home it sucked.

Eggs, hash browns, sausages, and toast is pretty much what I want from a diner. We do have a waffle iron at home though, so I can have fresh waffles whenever I want.

I think on the whole I prefer to have someone else make fresh waffles for me, but our local diner makes amazingly good pancakes. I feel like whenever I get a diner omelet I'm vaguely disappointed with it, but a couple fried eggs, bacon and a stack of carbs is the best.

I enjoy a good waffle or a fluffy pancake but if they do a good job of it my first choice for breakfast carbs is a French Toast. A few places have bad French toast though, it’s gotta be done right.

I’ll also often get something egg based but that seemed outside the scope of this poll.

I stayed at the nicest hotel in Vilnius during a work trip to Lithuania a few years ago (I think it was about $90 USD a night at the time). Good lord the breakfast offerings there (all included). The steak in their steak and eggs was a filet mignon, to give some idea. Not a fan of sweets for breakfast in general but I was partial to some crispy pancakes with lingonberry sauce on them that they had. Wouldn’t mind tracking down that recipe.

Anyway, stay at the Shakespeare if you find yourself in Vilnius, I guess, if it still exists.
