Gripe About What You're *Not* Playing 2

Another thought I just had is: I'm going to need a game to play concurrently with ER for frustration breaks, and normally I'd use a story-based game or artsy game. But exploring the wilderness and hunting robit dino-saurs might be a good way to unwind too...!

Wasn't Daraku Tenshi (The Fallen Angels) supposed to get an official home release by now? I'd heard something to that effect, but it never arrived. Anyway, that's the fighting game with the feel of a gritty crime drama, as opposed to the super saturation of Street Fighter or the over the top violence of Mortal Kombat. As a game it's pretty solid; a high seven or even an eight if I was generous, with a small selection of characters but fluid animation and tight control. The atmosphere in Daraku Tenshi is everything, though. Everything is draped in sepia tones, characters are kept down to earth in both abilities and personalities, and there's a general sense that what you're seeing is uncomfortably raw and real. It's a me-too fighter mechanically, yet doesn't feel derivative at all thanks to the neo-noir setting. Why this wasn't released in 1998 is a mystery. Why it still hasn't been released 24 years later is utterly baffling.

Of course I'd be the last person to bitch and moan here. Anyway, I recently heard that Visco is making an arcade cabinet, which puzzles me because... well, it's Visco, for Pete's sake! Their work always seems like a cheaper, less proficient Capcom, and most of it was published on the Neo-Geo anyway. Why can't they just be on a Neo-Geo cabby? Did they think they were going to get a lot more money publishing this stuff solo? I'd say the frequent two dollar sales of Vasara Collection, their very best imitation of a Cave shooter, suggests otherwise.

The game isn’t really well known enough for me to know if this is a known issue, a porting issue or just a Me issue, but as much as I enjoy Omensight on Switch, it is just a ludicrously clunky game. Not for the running about and chopping up monsters aspect, that works fine (lengthy load times interrupt levels but I can deal with that); but the game seems downright eager to freeze up and kick me back to the Switch Home Screen, saying an Unknown Error occurred.

Which happens much more often if I have to go back to the Home Screen for any given reason.

I’ve had a similar issue with the Switch port of Borderlands 2, except there it wouldn’t even get to the title screen; and I’ve since changed consoles so I know that that isn’t the issue

There are too many Switch games on sale which I'd like to play, but their prices haven't been lowered enough for me to justify the purchase. The shooters, specifically... R-Type Final 2, Game Tengoku, Galactic Attack/Layer Section, and the like. It's frustrating. Jaleco/City Connection is just way too reluctant to drop the prices of their games to what I would consider an impulse purchase.

For Layer Section at least they recently announced a compilation of the whole series, so I’d suggest waiting on that regardless

I look at the Epic Store every week, for the free games, and I always see this pretty nice collection of games I built up over the months (years?), and that I want to play, but don't have time for. And then I remember all the great itch.io games from the two bundles that are still waiting for me. And then I think of all the RPGs on Steam, that I bought years ago. I'm not even going to name them all, there are just way too many games and not nearly enough time.

I was granted access to the first Hades 2 playtest happening right now, but I opened up Steam to find out that it's PC only and I'm on a Mac.

I mad for both of us (I'm on PC)!

Also, I'm NOT playing Silksong because it's still not out! Grrrr!
