I didn’t feel it as much as the previous albums, but “10,000 Spoons” is an amazing track.

Agreed, Sprite. The high points of this album are extremely high, but it seems like there's more filler than the previous albums. Still, the album rules and Neil C has made my day/year once again.

"Superkiller" is a fucking jam, too.

What is that song in the background? It's tickling my memory but I can't place it... Obviously I recognize "Ironic," so not that one lol

It's the Knight Rider theme!

Also it seems like the direct download links are broken for the album? Streaming works but I need a permanent record of this.

Seems to be working now? Maybe his server was overloaded with traffic earlier.

I've always felt that the other albums were like this too, although Sounds was probably the most so of the three.
yeah, i guess what i'm realizing in retrospect that this is more of a reflection of how i've engaged with them over time, where sounds is a thing i'll put on for an hour and the other two had more tracks i would just cherrypick when i wanted to hear them and was less likely to just go through all of. but i think to me what this has in common with the first one is a bit more of a sense of theme, with so many of the song lyrics referencing sleeping, dreams, beds on fire, and stuff like that in a way that's kind of like 1 having so many smash mouth mashups. (i guess the fact that i heard several of the later mashups on soundcloud before their albums came out also contributes to that feeling they're a bit more like standalone songs) that plus having so many fun gags that to me really contributed to the mood makes me think this'll be a really lasting album for me in the same way, but i mean, it's only been about one day (even if i have listened to it a ton already)

and it's not like i never just put on "no credit card" or "vivid memories turn to fantasies" or "mullet with butterfly wings" either, so anyway. no moral

did i do all of that?

No wonder it was only tickling my memory, I don't ever remember even seeing that show. Must have been on Nick at Nite or something at some point. Thanks though! It was bugging me lol

One funny thing about Spongerock is that it makes it a little easier for me to map the ideas in Rock You back onto a traditional 12-bar blues structure

Someone on reddit got the bit of spoken word that's garbled near the start of Get Happy since I could not tell what the fuck it was:
Hi there, i bet all of you like to laugh as much as I do, at least I hope so. This is the time when we can be as silly as we want, * bleedleedleedle * why did the children cross the playground? To get to the other slide.
I'm guessing this is from Pee-Wee's playhouse given the use of the theme music later in the album.

If you told me that after 2019 there'd be another country-western song implicitly about having sex with transportation equipment and giving birth to an existentially-despairing child in the coming year, I'd have to say that I would think you were yanking my chain.

Where Is My Mom is definitely the most cursed track in the album, and that's saying a lot.

I've had a different one of these songs stuck in my head every day since I first heard it. Just a Baby and Ribs have most notably taken their turns; today has been "Where is My Mom."
